He began his career as a 16-year-old boy at the Dalzavod shipyard. Here he finished his courses and began to work as an scenographer in the factory club named after Ilyich.
In 1938, after the deportation, the young man decided to get an education and entered the Tashkent State Institute of Arts and Culture, which he graduated with honors.
In 1942, Georgy Mikhailovich was appointed Resident Set Designer of the Korean theater. He not only decorated the stage, but also supervised the sewing of costumes, took care of the provision of material and technical means, created original costumes from scrap materials, and often made them himself.
He designed such plays like “Othello”, “Kozy-Korpesh and Bayan-Sulu”, “Kremlin chimes” and others.
The highest praise that Georgy Mikhailovich Kan received from the critics for his work was the “The Thinking Artist” award.
