The Astana Ballet Theater successfully hosted a premiere of the fantasy play called “Morning Calm in the Alatau Mountains”. The dialogues of the heroes and songs in Korean were accompanied by simultaneous translation into Russian, Today.kz reports with reference to the Khabar 24 TV channel.
According to the ideas of directors Elena Kim and Kang Te Sik, the story of lovers begins in ancient Korea and continues in modern Kazakhstan. The audience seems to be transferred from one temporary space to another, but not with the help of a time machine, but thanks to stage techniques, accompanied by an unusual drum show, dances and the Korean opera Pansori.
It took a year to prepare the play. The artists from Kazakhstan and South Korea had rehearsals together on the stage of the Korean Theater in Almaty.
“We have preserved our authenticity, our roots. This is the result of a correct and very fair cultural policy of Kazakhstan. Eight artists from the Republic of Korea took part in this. The entire creative team consisted of 52 people,” said Lyubov Ni, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
