Artists of the State Republican Korean Theater of Musical Comedy are taking part in a theater festival in Seoul, Tengrinews.kz reports. Kazakh artists were invited to the festival as guests of honor.
“Every year we take part in the international theater festival, which is organized by the Union of Theater Workers of the Republic of Korea,” says Elena Kim, director of the Korean theater of Kazakhstan. It usually takes place in June and lasts for a month. However, this year the organizers decided to invite us as guests of honor, and we are performing in Seoul along with the winners of the international theater festival.”
Kazakh artists will present the drama “The Actress” based on the play of the same name by Dulat Isabekov at the festival. The premiere of the performance took place on the stage of the theater in May (director Elena Kim, choreographer Anna Tsoi, composer Georgy Yun, production designer Yulia Chernova). The drama tells about the fate of an actress Aigul Asanova, who devoted her whole life to serving the theater. Ups and downs, behind-the-scenes intrigues, family omissions – despite all these problems, Aigul remains devoted to the stage, theater and art.
“This play is interesting and complex, and every artist will see themselves, their lives in it,” notes Antonina Pyak, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who plays the role of Aigul. There was excitement before the performance. Firstly, because we are presenting a play by the classic of modern Kazakh literature, Dulat Isabekov. This performance is about the fate of the actress of the Kazakh Drama Theater. By the way, during the production Kazakh songs can be heard in the performance, but we play it in Korean for the Korean audience. Of course, this is a big responsibility. However we played a performance yesterday and, in principle, we saw that the audience understood and accepted it. It’s great and this makes me happy.
