The State Republican Academic Korean Theater of Musical Comedy celebrated a long-awaited event. On May 23, at 12:00, the official ceremony of handing over the building took place, which used to house the Kazakh State Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments named after A. S. Kurmangazy.
From now on, dear visitors of the theater and its guests, we await you all at a new address: Bogenbay Batyr Street, 158. From this day on, the theater has rightfully taken its place under the sun – in the very center of the city. After all, as A. Zholamanov, director of the department for culture and arts of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, emphasized in his speech, the art of Korean theater actors belongs to the people of Kazakhstan, glorifies our country, and its productions, in terms of their significance and disclosure of relevant topics, have long gone beyond narrow ethnic framework.
The theater has many friends and like-minded people from all over the world. Many of them were at the opening of a new stage in the life of the Temple of Arts, this stage will undoubtedly come after May 23, 2018, many sent their congratulations via the Internet. Representatives of public organizations, theater workers, faithful spectators, and youth gathered on the high porch near the red ribbon, which, after the inviting rhythm of the drums, was cut by theater veterans led by the leadership and guests of honor from the ministry, the South Korean consulate, and the AKK. Congratulatory speeches and wishes were made by the Director of the Department of Culture and Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Zholamanov, who congratulated the theater on behalf of the Minister Arystanbek Mukhamediuly, wished the temple of arts longevity, world recognition and creative success; Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Kazakhstan John Seung Min expressed confidence that the new building of the theater will become a center for the development of culture and will continue the best traditions accumulated over decades, and also thanked the government of Kazakhstan for taking such care; President of the Association of Koreans of Kazakhstan Sergey Ogai called the theater moving to the city center the event of the year and wished the actors to always be on top both in Kazakhstan and in the world; Deputy Chairman of the ACSC, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Georgy Kan noted that the building in which the actors will now perform is a historical monument of architecture, which is protected by the state, which obliges a lot, because the most famous national ensembles of Kazakhstan began their journey here. Among the speakers were the chairman of the Council of Elders of the AKK Ivan Timofeevich Pak, the chairman of the public association “Korenoin” Afanasy Grigorievich Kim, the director of the Kurmangazy orchestra Nurgisa Daueshov, Lidia Komarova came to Almaty especially on the occasion of the theater’s housewarming party, who congratulated the actors on behalf of the St. Petersburg Humanitarian Institute of Trade Unions.
“For almost 20 years we have been cooperating with the actors of the Korean theater,” the guest says. “They often act as experts with us. I cherish this friendship and admire their talent and the uniqueness of the theater itself. May your art invariably please the viewer and may only good people gather under your shanyrak,” she wished the actors. They also gave the floor to representatives from the hero of the occasion – the theater itself. Director Lyubov Ni, patriarch of the theater Oleg Safronovich Li, chief director Elena Kim, actors Roman Tsoi, Antonina Pyak and others wished their colleagues that everyone would feel comfortable in the new House called “theater”: actors, administrative workers, and, of course, the audience, in fact, because of whom the move itself was started.
– On the eve of the opening, we held a meeting and discussed our future work plans and discussed a strategic development plan, – Director of the Korean Theater Lyubov Augustovna Ni said in her speech. – We have had a great responsibility to the people of Kazakhstan, we have a lot of work to do to strengthen the unity of the people and the development of our country. It is a remarkable fact that the fourth generation of artists works in our theater, and all of them were born in Kazakhstan. The fertile Kazakh land has created good conditions for all of us, and today we are overwhelmed with feelings of gratitude to the state, which cares so much about the preservation and development of our theater as part of the multinational culture of Kazakhstan.
After cutting the symbolic red ribbon, all visitors entered the building to rejoice for the theater staff, looking first of all where the auditorium and stage are located. Soundly! Cozy! Majestic! The theater now has a wonderful home! – the guests exclaimed. Then, in honor of the holiday, the hospitable hosts invited everyone present to a buffet with hot pilaf. Warmth to you, our dear actors, in a new place where art has been registered for a long time! And you, dear viewers, need to remember the new address of the Korean Theater. Don’t forget – 158 Bogenbai Batyr Street!
For 85 years of its history, the Korean Theater has experienced several relocations and changes of its address. Its locations were: Vladivostok – Kyzylorda – Ushtobe – Kyzylorda – Almaty. Since 1999, the State Republican Academic Korean Musical Comedy Theater has been located in the building of the former Zhalyn cinema. During the years spent in the building at 70/1 Papanina Street, dozens of new performances and concert programs were staged. In the 70th anniversary year, the theater was visited by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. A. Nazarbayev. State and public figures of our country, the Republic of Korea and other countries were also His guests of honor.
But time is moving forward, our country is developing dynamically. The leader of the Nation of Elbasy N.A. Nazarbayev puts forward new large-scale tasks for us. The basis of their implementation is the Program of modernization of public consciousness “Rukhani Zhangyru”. An important place in it is given to culture, including theatrical art. The modern development of Kazakhstan has made it possible to strengthen its infrastructure, as evidenced by important steps to expand the material base of the Kazakh State Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments named after S. Kurmangazy, as well as the State Republican Korean Musical Comedy Theater and the Republican German Drama Theater. On April 2, 2018, the Government of Kazakhstan adopted Resolution No. 07-03-190/811-I. In its 86th year of existence, the theater moved to a new building.
