In the repertoire of the State Republican Academic Korean Theater of Musical Comedy, the cycle of traditional Korean legends, which have become unsurpassed classics of the theater, plays an important role. The classic performances of the cycle include “The Legend of Heung Bu and Zero Bu”, “The Legend of the Girl Sim Chen”, “The Legend of the Hare”, “The Legend of the Yangban” and “The Legend of the Chun Hyang Girl”.
In the 86th theatrical season, the season of premieres and new achievements, as part of the Ruhani Zhangyru program, Korean theater is once again turning to the traditional classical genre.
But the theater’s production team offers the viewer a new vision of the classic production: all the action is accompanied by a “live” musical sound, there are two alternative endings, as well as a large number of non-standard stage solutions. All the creative forces of the theater are involved in the global rethinking of the classical work, and that is why the performance is released in a musical format.
