On October 27, 2019, the State Republican Academic Korean Theater of Musical Comedy hosted a theatrical performance “Album of Memory” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Honored Art Worker of the Kazakh SSR Cho Dyon Gu as part of “Tugan zher” section of the “Ruhani Zhangyru” program.
The honored worker of arts of the Kazakh SSR, Cho Dyon Gu, has been the director of the state Korean theater of musical comedy for almost 40 years. An upsurge in the development of Korean theater is associated with his name. In 1950, Cho Den Gu achieved the unification of the Taldy-Kurgan and Tashkent regional Korean theaters, which were formed by the division of the Far Eastern regional Korean theater during the resettlement of 1937. Thanks to the great organizational work and perseverance of the director, in 1964 the Korean theater was given the republican status to the theater, and in 1968 the theater was transferred to the capital of the republic, Alma-Ata, and was named the State Republican Korean Theater of Musical Comedy. Being the head of the theatre, Cho Don Gu did everything possible to make real professionals out of artists, contributed to the fact that Korean departments were opened at theatrical institutes, and already in 1960, the theater received the first graduates of the Tashkent Institute of Theater Arts.
The theatrical performance “Album of Memory” shows the main milestones in the life and work of Cho Dung Gu as director of the Korean theater. The role of the theater director was played by a young theater actor Yugay Boris. The performance shows the path of the theatrical life of the national theaters of Kazakhstan.
