Almaty, June 1 – “RUSKOR” News Agency. The State Republican Academic Korean Theater of Musical Comedy celebrated a long-awaited event. An official ceremony was held in the former capital of Kazakhstan to hand over the building, which previously housed the Kazakh State Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments to The Korean Theater.
Ironically, the new building is located within walking distance of the old building, where the theater was located for many years and shared the stage with the Uighur theater, until it changed its registration to the building of the former Zhalyn cinema, quite far from the center of Almaty.
The new address of the Korean theater is Bogenbay Batyr St, 158. The building is an architectural historical monument protected by the state.
“The theater will continue the best traditions accumulated over decades with even greater inspiration,s” says theater director Lyubov Ni. – The creative team is already the fourth generation of artists, and all of them were born in Kazakhstan, – the Korean Theater is not just a professional team, but also a national treasure of all Russian-speaking Koreans. The fertile Kazakh land has created good conditions for all of us, and today we are overwhelmed with feelings of gratitude to the state, which cares so much about the preservation and development of our theater as part of the diverse culture of Kazakhstan.
Over the 85 years of its history, the Korean Theater has experienced several relocations and changes in its address. The places of its deployment were: Vladivostok – Kyzylorda – Ushtobe – Kyzylorda – Almaty.
