On September 27, 2019, the Korean Theater hosted an evening dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the public figure of the Almaty Korean National Center Khegai Alexei Yuryevich.
“The crown of every human life is the memory of it…
We have been given a short life, but the memory of a life given for a good cause is eternal … he was an amazing person with outstanding qualities and a stubborn character, the pride of Kazakhstani Koreans!” – with these words, the evening in memory of Alexander Yuryevich Khegai was opened.
Further, the deputy of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kim Roman Ukhenovich, the President of the Association of Koreans of Kazakhstan Ogai Sergey Gennadievich, the Chairman of the Almaty Korean National Center, the Cavalier of the Orders “Parasat” and “Kurmet” Shin Bronislav Sergeevich and other honored guests said their warm words of remembrance from the stage. Everyone, without exception, spoke about how Aleksey Yuryevich was rooting with his soul and heart for the Korean center, for the invaluable contribution that he made to its development and formation. He always cared about the younger generation. On his initiative, a group of young amateur artists went to the USA with a concert program. Performances were held in 25 cities and made a splash. For the organization of such a grandiose tour, the mayor’s office of the city of Gordon Grove (USA) awarded A.Yu. Khegai the title of “Honorary Citizen of the City”. Aleksey Yuryevich Khegay was awarded state awards for his labor achievements, these are the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and Friendship of Peoples, medals, and Certificates of Honor of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR. He has honorary titles: “Laureate of the Prize of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR”, “Honored Hydraulic Engineer of the Kazakh SSR”, and “Honorary Citizen of Garden Grove, USA”.
From a short documentary film about the life and work of Aleksey Yuryevich Khegay, shown during the evening, even those who did not personally know him could understand what a great soul this man was. Alexander Yuryevich gave his whole life to his Motherland – Kazakhstan.
Further, for all the guests, the theater artists prepared and presented a big festive concert dedicated to the blessed memory of Alexei Yuryevich Khegai.
