As part of the “Rukhani Zhangyru” program and the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Karaganda Regional Ethnocultural Center of Koreans, on September 20, 2019, a memorial sign “Gratitude to the Kazakh people from the Koreans of Karaganda region” was opened on the Cascade Square of the Central Park of Culture and Recreation of the city of Karaganda. It is based on fundamental human values such as mercy, compassion, and understanding of human misfortune and involuntarily turns us into the past, into the memory of the history of the great steppe country, which teaches and encourages us to follow the best, noble traditions of our ancestors, which are guiding landmarks in today’s life. In the tragic years of political repressions and deportations of the 20th century, millions of people were grateful to each other for help and support. It gave people deprived of everything the strength and the opportunity to survive, regain hope, to start life anew. At present, eyewitnesses, as well as the descendants of those who survived the era of persecution, recall with great warmth the care and hospitality found in the sacred land of Kazakhstan.
On these days, the tour of the State Republican Academic Korean Theater of Musical Comedy to the city of Karaganda was planned. For more than 20 years, the State Republican Academic Korean Theater of Musical Comedy has been linked by friendship and close cooperation with the ethnocultural association of Koreans of the Karaganda region. And it was an honor to participate in the opening ceremony of the memorial sign for our theater artists. After the official part of the opening, our theater also laid flowers at the monument, as a token of gratitude to the Kazakh people.
